Moneybox asked Toast to produce three TV adverts for its money management app. Each 30-second film focuses on one part of the Moneybox offer: Cash ISA savings, home buying with a Lifetime ISA and investing through a Stocks and Shares ISA.
The campaign brings warmth and a human feel to a subject that can easily become dry. Rather than filling each second of the ads with financial detail, they show ordinary people getting an important job sorted. Opening an account becomes one satisfying tick on life’s longer to-do list.
Moneybox briefed Toast ahead of its seasonal marketing push. The goal of the campaign was to support cost-effective customer acquisition across three important ISA products.
Each film needed to encourage the right audience to download the Moneybox app and open an account. The campaign covered the Cash Lifetime ISA for home buyers, the Stocks and Shares ISA for investors and the newly launched Cash ISA for savers.
There was a wider brand job to do as well. The adverts needed to raise awareness and consideration of Moneybox while building trust, credibility and a positive impression of the company.
The original brief called for three 30-second television adverts with shorter cutdowns. Moneybox provided support for app screen design and motion, while Toast would provide financial services advertising production and would manage production and the Clearcast process.
Finance advertising needs to explain the product without losing the viewer. For Moneybox, Toast built each advert around one clear message and a familiar situation. The app is part of the story rather than an awkward product demonstration added at the end.
The three films share the same creative device, visual style and friendly tone. This gives the campaign consistency while allowing each product to have its own message. It also helps Moneybox present saving and investing as manageable steps towards something bigger.
The audience was comfortable managing everyday life through a smartphone. However, personal finance could still feel complicated or time-consuming. The creative response was to make each Moneybox task look straightforward, useful and easy to complete.
Four Moneybox personality traits guided the tone: spirited and confident, alongside engaging and celebratory. Those qualities shaped the films without making the performances feel forced. There is warmth and humour, but the product message always remains clear.
TV advertising for investment apps rarely stands still for long. Rates, allowances and product messages may change while a campaign is still running. Review scores and award references can also need updating.
We designed the Moneybox films so these details could easily be reversioned without rebuilding the whole advert. App screens, end frames and key claims can be changed while the main live-action footage remains in place. That makes the DRTV campaign more useful over time and avoids painting the brand into a corner.
The campaign ran during an important period of growth for Moneybox. During 2024, the company welcomed 400,000 net new customers and increased assets under administration to £11.7 billion.
TV helps fintech companies move from being perceived as purely digital products towards becoming trusted financial brands.
